17 Y.O RAPPER DIVITA USES DRILL TO SPEAK TRUTH IN DEBUT “KINGDOM”
Divita is a seventeen-year-old artist who has one desire to ‘rap about the gospel in all its power and glory’. Coming from a stable home, born in Glasgow, Scotland and raised in Birmingham, England where he resides now.
After meeting Stevie Valentine another gospel artist, Stevie began to encourage Divita to write freestyles and songs to practice his skills. He eventually wrote his first single ‘Kingdom’ and fully confirmed he wanted to start his journey as a Christian artist.
This single heavily depicts the gospel of the kingdom, not a typical Christian rap single, the verses and chorus sit on a drill beat created by one of the UK’s biggest upcoming producers; Frosty Beats.
From the chorus, there is evidence of the artist’s transforming testimony; from a life of theft and fraud to a fiery believer of Christ. Each verse picks up on a particular aspect of the Kingdom ranging from Matthew 6:33 of putting the kingdom first before anything to salvation power.
Carefully inputting and bringing to light the rise of gun crime and gang-related crime in the second verse, Divita wants the listener to be engaged and focused on the fact that the great commission still needs to be fulfilled as well as encouraging people involved in this particular lifestyle to leave it.
Interwoven with wordplay and a suiting flow, the track establishes that the power of God’s kingdom needs to be shown today to a broken world.
