There is a cross between, outreach and edification that I’ve found, which pops up in CHH. There is a sense of responsibility towards the Christian artist who gets involved in Rap music. Two alternatives I have come across when I question their motives; either to EDIFY or OUTREACH.
1. Make a Plan / Be Prepared
Ok maybe that’s two things but they are closely related! People aren’t going to buy or stream your music just because it’s great, you need to figure out how you’re going to get your music into their hands. Before you put the record out you need to have a plan for how you will promote it – in your plan, I would always suggest thinking about how you will approach the areas outlined below:
Who has that grip on the #UKCHH scene? Who could bring out droves of people to their paying shows? This happens to be a very pressing issue for the future of this scene, as without the capital to produce these shows and the customers to attend the growth will be laboured and tiresome. Reach records artist seem to have found a way to get their shows heard in the UK. So the questions really are: how do we build?
Rapper Still Shadey drops ‘Sold my Soul’ music video after the announcement of KB Records, his independent record label launch. This track is a great message to the secular industry at large and the potential offers that they might allure artists away with. The fame, money, recognition and acclaim that can be gained from the exposure some of these major labels and contacts can give.
