UK Christian artist Presha J released his third EP Concrete Jungle Volume 1. The title suggests that more music is on its way and we are here for it. In the current popular style, the tracks are short. However, the brevity doesn’t take away the depth of the messages passed across.
Conversations, the lead track is exactly what it is – a series of conversations that need to be had. There’s the conversation with himself, his wife and his daughter whom he calls his princess.
‘No part-time dad, I do full time, I’ll be present till I die’.
It is always a beautiful thing to see black fathers choose to be present in the lives of their children.
The project incorporates several styles. Mindless ft Richie Dan was previously released as part of the TIME4CHANGE project. “This song is a direct response to the mindless violence that has tragically led to the loss of many of our youth within our own communities.”
Walk With has to be my favourite song on the EP. The slightly different rhythm and vibe make it such a cool song to bop to. Presha speaks about knowing who he is Christ and the confidence that comes from walking with Him.
‘can’t be repping the most high, when things ain’t bright, I’m tryna cut corners’.
Walking with Christ isn’t just about comfort; on the days when things are slightly tough, he reminds us to maintain our identity and not cut corners.
Concrete Jungle Volume 1 is one that is going to be on repeat while we await the second volume. Till the GET IN HERE.
