Deep! Is what I thought when I listened to Reblah’s new track Be Holy.
The track is backed with amazing visuals, graphics, and sound effects that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
Using a play on words and powerful lyrics drawn from the Bible, Reblah’s bars draw you in, at the same time keeping your spirit fired up. I particularly love the part where he raps about God’s word:
“It don’t matter what end you’re from, it transform your life like megatron”
See what he did there?
Now to the video… hmm… cleverly done!
The video takes us on a journey. We see the artist entering a room with black men with ballies on including him, as he begins to rap, he takes off his bally and others do the same one after the other.
Reb takes the role of an evangelist, unashamed of the gospel which I found this very symbolic, as ballies are often associated with criminal acts.
This reflects how black men are often represented in the media. Reblah shows us that no matter the lies of the devil, the truth in God’s word gives light, enabling us to come with ‘unmasked’ faces to him. 2 Corinthians 3:18
“Justice for George Floyd”.
This is profound imagery used in the video as you don’t usually find statements of protests occupying the same space as the gospel. Reblah is definitely not afraid of being a voice through his music, a trait consistent with most of his songs.
The song blessed me and it’s definitely one to add to your playlist.
P.S Watch in H.D, thank me later.
