Rapper Fabs known for his hard hitting bars, works together with Portuguese singer Constança to collaborate on his new YouTube video release “Look Up”.
A track that runs deep not only on the tone and texture but in the message also. It centres on a topic that has been overlooked for a long time, especially in the church …
Mental Health.
In the UK according to mind.org
In England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week [2].
It appears that how people cope with mental health problems is getting worse as the number of people who self-harm or have suicidal thoughts is increasing [2].
Many people struggle to share their experiences with others for fear of being ridiculed.
I think this is an important issue for us to raise awareness too, something where we as Christians believe that the bible helps us understand how to deal with these challenges of the mind through, the scriptural application, prayer and mentor-ship, we must learn how to help those in need and offer correct support.
Fabs does a good job in bringing light to the issue, with precise bars and direct intent. So we caught up with the London rapper to find his thoughts;
“I think mental health is something that is very neglected ESPECIALLY within religion. As spirituality is the focus and I find that someone’s psychological well being often times is neglected.
My heart is that people will find strength within themselves to push through any dark season in their life. Seek the hand of God and seek help from those around them.
To be born again. Doesn’t just mean having a new found spiritual experience.
To be born again means to be renewed and experience freedom in every aspect including the mind”
Portuguese chorus lyrics translated;
But the shadows invite you to stay
When your in the midst of your brethren
But you feel there is no one you can speak to
When you no longer know what to do
And the forces begin to speak
Close your eyes like you saw your mother do
And begin to pray”
