Crown Freedom is known for his forward and direct lyrics. His songs often reflect on deeper issues that confront our society. Last year, he produced a short film, titled Abi, are you okay? Based on a true story of domestic violence and sexual abuse. He also rapped at intervals.
A few years ago, he featured Kariss Rees in a song titled Mirror, about emasculation.
Some months back he released a track titled “No Corona” encouraging people to stay safe and not to live in fear. His messages also centre on the believer’s authority and identity.
In Slayin’ Them Giants the main message was to remind believers that no matter the challenges that come our way, the greater one lives inside of us.
The lyrics are based on the popular story of David and Goliath. In the song, Crown freedom dished out these powerful bars paraphrasing 1 Samuel 17:26:
“Why are you mocking my God… you will fall for the shot of my rock”
We have authority in God, and presently we have ‘giants’ in our lives to slay. This song will trigger your faith to confront issues in the name of the Lord.
The artist reminds us to always equip ourselves for battle:
“You can’t defy the armies of God, amma put on the whole armour of God”
As the song says, our walk with God is an “All day ting, I ain’t got a night off”. I hope the song stirs up your faith and encourages you to keep the fire burning. Remember to always be the light.
