UKCR PODCAST – EP35 – IN TALKS WITH REBLAH ON MUSIC, FAITH, INDUSTRY & MORE
We sat down with Reblah on the newly renamed UKCR Podcast. Yes, we wanted something to reflect the music and culture of UK Christian rappers. So we’ve dropped the UKCHH and boldly stand with UKCR.
The ‘Jesus Riddim’ rapper Reblah is not a man who is deeply into fashion, still so eager to learn, but holds firm to keep his faith in Jesus at the forefront and foundation pf what he does.
“If I want the Lord to bless and be a part of my ministry, I have to honour him completely with all my actions”
Reblah Irritated at First
Not seeing other artists stand for Jesus; like Reblah did irritated the ‘Be Holy’ artist. Not seeing others proclaim Jesus like him, was frustrating. However, he’s come to a place where he realises he must love them whilst recognising the different positions in the body. Romans 12:4
“Your light can’t shine where there is light already.”
He talks on his love for others with a desire to relate to them. Throwing away the judgmental and learning to connect with people.
“I don’t see many proclaiming Jesus on the secular platforms, the enemy has huge market share.”
He finds that record labels don’t really understand the point of the Gospel in music, an understandable point, however, he wants to step into that market and “swing his sword”.
Stressing the point of the presentation of art, even though there may be rejections as he has received from GRM Daily and other platforms (perhaps because of the gospel message), there is a sense that he wants to bring others through to get involved.
“Some of these churches are massive, your take loads of tithe and offering, you don’t even want to invest in the ministry, just want to give some jollof rice and chicken… We’ve got to come better!”
